Alaska

Ranking as the state's number one manufacturing industry, Alaska's forest products industry is a vital component of the state's economy. The industry employs 2,000 workers with an annual payroll of $108 million.  Alaska's paper and wood manufacturing workforce represents 2.6 percent of the state's total manufacturing workforce.

Approximately 35 percent of Alaska is forested. Credited to regeneration and planting programs, the net annual forest growth exceeds harvest by 22 percent.
